Veteran journalist Steven McFadden is the author or coauthor of 15 nonfiction books, including Farms of Tomorrow and Farms of Tomorrow Revisited. The Food Systems Network NYC named his book among the best of 2009 – The Call of the Land: An Agrarian Primer for the 21st Century. Former national coordinator of Earth Day and director of The Wisdom Conservancy, he is also the author of Profiles in Wisdom,  Legend of the Rainbow Warriors, Odyssey of the 8th Fire. His epic nonfiction saga, Odyssey of the 8th Fire, chronicles the historic transcontinental walk in 1995-96 of the Sunbow Pilgrims, of whom the author was a member (www.8thFire.net). Steven is co-author of Farms of Tomorrow and Farms of Tomorrow Revisited, and he collaborated on Hand to Hand: The Longest-Practicing Reiki Master Tells His Story, by John Harvey Gray.

Steven’s 2009 release, The Call of the Land: An Agrarian Primer for the 21^st Century, continues his decades-long work with sustainable agriculture and healing our relationship with the Earth. Steven McFadden serves as director of Chiron Communications, an umbrella enterprise under which he pursues his work as a writer, professional speaker, group facilitator, counselor, and healer.

Steven is the author or coauthor of 15 non-fiction titles: The Call of the Land: An Agrarian Primer for the 21^st Century; Ancient Voices, Current Affairs: The Legend of the Rainbow Warriors , Profiles in Wisdom: Native Elders Speak About the Earth, The Little Book of Native American Wisdom, and Teach Us to Number Our Days, a compendium of inspiration and wisdom on aging. Odyssey of the 8th Fire chronicles the epic transcontinental walk in 1995-96 of the Sunbow Pilgrims, of whom the author was a member (8thFire.net). He also is co-author with Trauger Groh of two seminal works about community supported agriculture (CSA): Farms of Tomorrow (1990) and Farms of Tomorrow Revisited (1998).

A  journalism graduate of Boston University, Steven worked in newspapers and magazines before turning his hand to writing books and to teaching business writing with John Mercer Associates. He founded Chiron Communications in the 1980s but rested it in the 1990s while serving as national coordinator for the annual Earth Day Celebration in partnership with the Seventh Generation Fund. He then served as director of The Wisdom Conservancy at Merriam Hill Education Center in Greenville, New Hampshire.

A  Reiki Master of long standing, he has taught the healing technique to hundreds of students across North and Central America. He helped John Harvey Gray and Lourdes Gray, PhD write Hand to Hand: The Longest-Practicing Reiki Master Tells His Story.

Steven maintains an active interest in farming, sustainable agriculture, and our relationship with the Earth. He has reported on the growth and development of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) in America since its inception in 1986.

His most recent book, The Call of the Land: An Agrarian Primer for the 21^st Century (2009, is a sourcebook exploring positive pathways for food security, economic stability, environmental repair, and cultural renewal.
